GODFREY BAIDOO-TSIBU

Godfrey Baidoo-Tsibu has over 35 years of experience working in the agriculture and fisheries sectors in Ghana. He obtained a BSc in Zoology from the University of Ghana in 1987 and an MSc in Shellfish Biology, Culture and Fisheries from Bangor University, UK in 2000. In 2005, he earned a post-graduate certificate in Agriculture Administration from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration.
From 2011 to 2018, Godfrey served as the Director of Monitoring, Control and Surveillance Division in Ghana’s Fisheries Commission. In this role, he oversaw activities to combat illegal fishing including operating a vessel monitoring system. From 2005 to 2011, he worked as an Assistant Programme Officer at the FAO Country Office in Ghana, seconded from the Fisheries Commission.
Most recently, from July 2020 to October 2022, Godfrey coordinated vessel monitoring, capacity building and joint surveillance operations as the Regional MCS Expert and Coordinator of the FCWC Regional MCS Centre. Godfrey is passionate about achieving sustainable fisheries in Ghana and Africa where many depend on the industry. He currently works as an independent fisheries consultant in Ghana and is an Associate Expert of CEMLAWS Africa.
