OSATOHANMWEN ANASTASIA ERUAGA

Osatohanmwen (Osato) Anastasia Eruaga is an Associate Professor of Research with the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies. She studied Law at the University of Benin, Nigeria and subsequently obtained an LL.M (Maritime Law) from the University of Nottingham, the United Kingdom in 2009. She obtained her doctoral degree in Maritime Affairs (maritime law and policy) from the World Maritime University, Sweden. She has been involved in extensive legal research and writing in the areas of public international law, especially Maritime, Environmental, and Human Rights Law. She is one of the leading maritime security experts in Africa and has significantly worked on enhancing maritime security cooperation and governance framework in the Gulf of Guinea region.
Osato has served as a speaker and guest lecturer in several local and international conferences and learned events. She has to her credit, several individual and co-authored published peer-reviewed book chapters and journal articles. As part of her commitment to research and delivery of outcomes, Osato has also been involved in a number of consultancies commissioned by national and international organisations such as the MacArthur Foundation, the Danish Embassy, UNESCO, UNICEF and UNODC.
